The mentorship program I offer is a great way for you to see the way I shoot, edit, market; but ultimately, I want you to come away from the experience with new-found knowledge and confidence in your own photography style.   Now, I don’t claim to be perfect….or even a super technical shooter.  Yes, I shot film before moving to digital, but I had to re-teach myself how to shoot digital and how to edit and process digital images….it’s a different ballgame.  What I can do is show you what I do and things I’ve learned along the way – with the goal in saving you time, money and energy so you don’t have to make the same mistakes I made along the way.

The reason I prefer mentorships over workshops is because it allows a free-form exchange and we can get so much more done without distractions of others.  The best way to learn from someone is in person….one-on-one.  That being said, it’s just not feasible for many people to get on a plane and come to California to study with me…..so for those of you who live out of state, I do offer skype mentorships.  The idea is the same – but everything is done on the computer; so while this limits us somewhat, it’s still great for those of you who just need to find out a few things.  Here’s info on both types I offer:

IN PERSON MENTORSHIPS:

What is covered?

Pretty much everything – I customize the session to your needs.  For instance, if you would like to learn more about Senior Portrait photography, I would set up a styled shoot with a model, makeup artist, etc. and we’d shoot it all out on location.  We cover anything from manual settings to lighting (I’m a natural light photographer) to posing and more.  Before the session, I cover any questions you have regarding biz – from how to structure model rep programs to how to price to sell.  Afterwards, we talk editing and marketing.  It’s a full day and you are free to use your images in your portfolio!

Where do they take place?

These obviously happen here, in the Santa Clarita Valley, CA where I reside; however, I offer Los Angeles locations as well for those of you interested in more colorful landscapes.  Depending on the location we choose, the sit-down part will take place in the same “area” as that….so exact location TBA.

What dates are available?

Mentorships happen on either Saturdays or Sundays – whichever is best for our schedules.  (All day from 9-7)  I don’t have specific dates already set aside for these; they are first come, first serve – and do come second to my client sessions.  Typically, I only do one mentorship per month, but since January is a little slower for me, I will offer more during that time.  If you are interested in booking a mentorship, email me for availability and have some dates already in mind.

Can anyone book a mentorship?

Technically, yes…..anyone living outside the Santa Clarita Valley (so yes, LA based photographers can attend)

What do I bring?

  • Gear (obviously!)  If you are just starting out, you can rent great camera bodies & lenses from either BorrowLenses or LensProToGo
  • Laptop with Lightroom is preferred; I also cover Photoshop
  • Good old fashioned notebook and pen for notes
  • Comfortable shoes
  • A sense of humor
  • Chocolate …. just kidding… sort of ;)

Can I bring a friend and if so, is there a discount?

Sure, the more the merrier – each of you would receive a $100 discount.

 How much does it cost?

$950 for the entire day and includes everything listed above, plus some surprise goodies.  Meals, hotel, and airfare are not included

Is there a deposit?

Deposit is $400 and is non-refundable.  If you need to re-schedule, that’s fine.

How can I book?

When you’re ready to book, email me.  I’ll then send you a questionnaire regarding specifics of what you would like to cover, as well as information on submitting deposit.  Of course, if you have any questions, don’t hesitate to call me!  800-957-1684

SKYPE MENTORSHIPS:

What is covered?

Again, this depends on what you want covered.  We won’t be shooting, but I do portfolio review, editing, style questions, etc.  Ask and you shall receive.

How long is the session?

Skype sessions are limited to two hours and are offered on a limited basis.

Can anyone book a skype mentorship?

Anyone outside of the Southern California area – if you have questions regarding that, email me for details.

How much?

$350 for two hours

Deposit?

$150 non-refundable
